UHI Perth is one of Scotland’s leading Colleges of Further and Higher Education, and a large partner in Scotland’s newest University, the University of the Highlands and Islands.
We are seeking an Engineering Lecturer with experience of Electrical and Electronic Engineering as well Mechanical Engineering to join our growing team to support the delivery of our Engineering programmes. At UHI Perth we offer a suite of Engineering courses from craft level to degree, at SCQF level 4 to 10.
The campus is well resourced to deliver a first-class learning experience with a wellbalanced mix of lecture theatres, classrooms, laboratories, and training workshops.
As a lecturer you will contribute to shaping the future of the next generation of engineers through teaching and other scholarly activities such as research and consultancy. Within your specialisation, you will be responsible for preparing materials for learning, teaching, and assessment, and for the teaching of theory and practical aspects. You will also be responsible for supervising student project work and contributing to the development of the UHI programmes in engineering. The post will also involve the development and delivery (including in-country) of our international programmes, including those we have in collaboration with a number of Chinese Universities. International delivery will be a blend of online delivery along with up to two weeks at a time in-country delivery, several times each year.
Candidates should, as a minimum, hold a degree in a relevant discipline. Industry experience or a master’s degree would be a strong advantage. Previous teaching experience is desirable as is an ability to teach across broader engineering disciplines. In addition, you should be a well-motivated self-starter with good communication skills who is able to work effectively with a team. A strong learner-focus and an awareness of the engineering requirements of industry are essential.
