We are seeking a Post-graduate Research Assistant to work at the Centre for Human Genetics. The laboratory is developing novel anti-inflammatory therapeutics for Type 1 diabetes and heart disease using peptides developed from ticks. The projects are funded by awards from Steve Morgan Foundation T1D Grand Challenge, Diabetes UK, Breakthrough-T1D and the British Heart Foundation. The post-holder will provide animal model and laboratory technical support to ensure the smooth running of the project and will assist and report to post-doctoral research assistants managing the project.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing mouse animal model experiments, performing cell biology techniques including mammalian cell culture, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the laboratory.
The successful candidate will hold a BSc in an appropriate subject area, and hold a UK Home Office Personal License with experience in following and adhering to Home Office Personal Licence standard conditions. They will also have experience in practical mouse handling techniques.
