The Department of Computer Science (CS) at Royal Holloway, University of London is looking to appoint an experienced academic to support its research and teaching. The Department has a record of outstanding research (17th among UK CS departments in REF 2021, Times Higher Education ranking), with very strong research groups in Intelligent Systems, Machine Learning, Algorithms and Complexity, and Programming Languages and Systems, and made recent appointments in Quantum Computing and Software Engineering. There are also strong collaborations with the Information Security Department.
The Department delivers outstanding teaching and achieves excellent results (93% graduates in graduate-level employment or further study within 15 months, 2025 Guardian ranking). Our software engineering teaching was hailed a ‘best practice’ example by BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT.
This post is to complement and/or strengthen our areas of research. Applicants should have a record of high quality publications and attracting significant research funding, and a track record demonstrated excellence in delivering higher education teaching and student supervision. A Reader will make a broad and sustained contribution to the discipline nationally and internationally, and demonstrate sustained and exceptional performance in research, whilst a Senior Lecturer will provide leadership in both teaching and research, with a sustained contribution to the discipline at national and international level
The post-holder will be expected to contribute strongly to the development of research impact, and will have, or have a high potential to have, a strong track record in this area.

The posts are primarily based in Egham, Surrey where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London. The University also has a Central London Campus, based in Bloomsbury, and there may be an opportunity/requirement to deliver teaching at that location.
