An opportunity has become available at University Information Services (UIS) for a Lead Senior Security Engineer. This role will lead a group of security engineers within the Security Operations team, working to deliver cyber-security for the University's 60,000 students and staff.

Your work will be in a complex organisation, with a range of challenges that constantly evolve to meet new threats and business needs.

As a Lead Senior Security Engineer, you will:

  • Lead and manage a team of 3 or more security engineers.
  • Manage the delivery of cyber-security platforms , including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and anti-DDoS.
  • Research and implement new cyber-security services and capabilities to meet business requirements and emerging threats.
  • Manage cyber-security projects.
  • Provide cyber-security advice and consultancy.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Security Operations team and the wider department.
  • Work with staff from across the university to provide security services and infrastructure.

Are you the right candidate?

  • You have experience implementing and managing firewall platforms. Knowledge of FortiNet is an advantage.
  • You have experience delivering cyber-security technologies and services in a large organisation.
  • You are interested in leading staff, providing direction and development, aligning to business needs.
  • You enjoy managing a project to design, implement, and deliver cyber-security services and infrastructure that meet business needs.
  • You continually evolve and improve cyber-security capabilities, introducing new services and technologies, as the security landscape evolves.
  • You can communicate clearly to different audiences, both verbally and written, including presentations, reports, and business proposals.
  • You can work calmly and effectively during incidents.

This is a hybrid-working role with offices at the University Information Services' building on the West Cambridge Site.
