We are looking for a Research Associate to join the Cardiff NLP team in the School of Computer Science and Informatics at Cardiff University.

In this role, you will:

  • Be actively involved and leading Natural Language Processing (NLP) research projects, particularly related to language understanding or in the intersection of computational social science and NLP.
  • Be involved in the Cardiff NLP group (https://www.cardiff.ac.uk/research/explore/research-units/natural-language-processing) and be part of the community.
  • Be part of the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship project led by Jose Camacho-Collados, and benefit from funding to attend conferences and optionally to have research visits in partner institutions.

We’d like to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience in NLP or related areas, with a strong research portfolio or relevant experience in practical projects outside academia.
  • Are interested in multi-disciplinary collaborations around NLP and language models.
  • Have experience in one of the topics relevant to the project, including, but not limited to, language understanding, machine learning or computational social science.

This post is fixed-term for a period of 15 months, full-time (part-time options can also be considered).

Salary: £40,247 per annum, with 4 annual increments up to £45,163 per annum, pro-rata if part-time (Grade 6)
