The Department of Architecture is seeking to appoint a part-time (0.4 FTE) Personal Assistant to the Head of Department (HoD). The role will be fixed term for a period of 12 months.

The post-holder will join a diverse and friendly professional services team, with opportunities to take part in projects and a focus on career development both in role, and more broadly.

In addition to the work carried out as part of the HoD role, Professor Flora Samuel is leading a large research project - the Public Map Platform. The project is based on Anglesey and run by the Public Map Platform team in the Department of Architecture, University of Cambridge in conjunction with Cardiff and Wrexham Universities and a large range of other partners.

The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. Working hours will be agreed between the successful candidate and their line manager, but ideally the postholder will work their hours across 4-5 days and will be able to be in the office for much of this time.

The day-to-day tasks of the role holder may include, but are not limited to:

  • Proactively coordinate HoD's complex diary
  • Make complicated travel arrangements and process expenses
  • Organise meetings, seminars and Alumni events, including room booking
  • Liaise with the broader Professional Services team
  • Collating documents upon request, and occasional minute taking
  • Raise any issues as needed to ensure that the environment for visitors and HoD is as comfortable as possible ¿ this may include making beverages from time to time
