John Cabot University (JCU), an accredited American liberal arts university in Rome, Italy, invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in Psychology (Assistant or Associate level), to begin in August 2025. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related field (i.e., Neuroscience). They are expected to be fluent in English, which is the language of instruction, and to possess valid EU working documents in Italy at time of application.
The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to applicants with a clinical or developmental focus, and with a strong quantitative background. The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of tenure.
We seek someone to join an active and collaborative department, committed to promoting an inclusive academic environment where every student can thrive. Successful candidates should demonstrate dedication to excellence in teaching and mentoring, scholarly activity that can involve undergraduate students, and commitment to university, departmental, and community service. Familiarity and experience with the American liberal arts educational tradition will be considered an advantage.
The ideal candidate will be prepared to teach introductory courses (e.g., statistics, research methods), and contribute to expanding the department offerings in clinical, developmental, or quantitative psychology. The teaching load is three courses per semester.
Applicants should send 1) a cover letter addressing their interest and fit for teaching at an American liberal arts college in Rome; 2) an updated curriculum vitae; 3) a research statement highlighting their primary research goals and plans to achieve them within the resources typically available at a small liberal arts university. It should also address how their research agenda will create meaningful opportunities for undergraduate student involvement; 4) a teaching statement addressing their experience or perspective on teaching and mentoring, including courses the candidate would be prepared and excited to teach; 5) evidence of teaching excellence. Materials should be sent as a single pdf file to PsychologySearch@johncabot.edu.
Applicants should be prepared to have three confidential letters of recommendation be sent to the same email address, if requested.
Review of applications will begin December 20 and will continue until the positions are filled. Applications received before January 5 will receive full consideration.
