We are seeking an ambitious academic to join our team in the Department of Civil Engineering. You will play a key role in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, while enhancing the department's current research strengths and developing a leading profile in their area of expertise.
We give a strong emphasis on student engagement, project-oriented learning, and employability. Excellent communication and organisational skills with strong commitments to inspiring teaching are, therefore, vital. Demonstrating the capability to create innovative methods for course delivery, assessment, and curriculum design will be considered a significant advantage. As the successful candidate, you will be expected to teach modules in your specialised area, as well as other civil and construction-related subjects as required by the department. While the post is based at Aston University's main campus, occasional travel may be necessary to deliver teaching at off campus and overseas institutions.
A PhD, along with teaching experience in civil and/or construction areas, a strong publication record, and evidence of an internationally recognised research profile, is required.
We are striving to develop a strong research group in the Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering and Management theme and collaborate closely with the three research institutes in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS). For further information, please visit the dedicated institute webpage.
Industrial experience and professional qualification (CEng) or working towards professional qualification will be highly desirable.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Professor Mujib Rahman (m.rahman19@aston.ac.uk) Head of The Department of Civil engineering.
