The Role and the Department

The role is to assist the project manager for EPSRC-funded network for EDI in the Energy Research Community, ‘EDI+’. The vision for the EDI+ network is to acknowledge and address key challenges and equip a cohort of researchers and their organizations to make lasting changes toward a diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible research community. This will have impact beyond the academy and set a precedent, offering the means to t ailor EDI action among the divers organizations participating in energy research. The network takes to the form of a fellowship programme, which will recruit EDI champions from diverse energy research institutions; train them in EDI issues, research methods for analysing organisational context, how to make organisational changes, and how to implement and evaluate plans of action, and support them to publish their results. All fellows will have the support of a named senior executive of their organization and the option to participate in cross-institutional reciprocal mentoring to embed learning and change in the institutional context. The ‘fellows’ will form a mutually supportive network that should endure beyond the life of the funding scheme. EPSRC funded fellows will be complemented by industry- and government- funded fellows to expand the network beyond the funded call, and with the establishment of an alumni network, will offer the potential for the network to end ure beyond the funding period.

Selected training events will be open to the wider energy research community, who will also have access to a toolkit on EDI actions in context and all other network publications. Additional impact will include workshops and presentations to coincide with existing conference and research events, to maximise the reach of the network. Findings Will be Shared and promoted through a ’network of networks’ approach across the energy community nationally and internationally.

The Grant Administrator will work closely with the project manager in supporting the coordination of multiple work strands across the project to meet funding objectives. The administrator will prepare and distribute written materials to support work strands, such as registration documentation, evaluation forms and publicity materials in written and electronic format. The ability to manipulate data and produce high quality reports and dashboards to monitor and report on progress is essential. As well as a d emonstrable ability to organize online filing system so that other users can easily find and access relevant documents.

The post holder will be highly organised, excellent communicator and an interest in and knowledge about equity, diversity and inclusivity is essential.

The post will sit within the department of Anthropology at Durham and will be associated with the Durham Energy Institute. The post holder will work across departments and faculties for the benefit of the project.
