About the role:
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to investigate next generation batteries such as “anode-free” or “anode-less” Li cells. The focus of this research project is to use in situ and other characterisation techniques such as time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy (ToF-SIMS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray scattering, scanning electron microscopy, etc. to characterise battery properties such as SEI layers on anode-less substrates, and physical properties (thickness, Young’s modulus, etc.) of the SEI layers. This project will include both experimental and computational research activities. Rechargeable batteries are of significant interest to a wide range of industries such as electric transportation.
What you would be doing:
You will be working in an intellectually stimulating research environment with scientists working in both aligned research areas as well as a wide variety of other research areas. You will be a conscientious and innovative scientist with a PhD (or equivalent) in chemistry, materials science, physical chemistry, chemical engineering or relevant science and engineering discipline, and strong background in experimentation and characterisation. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential.
