Bangor University is seeking to appoint a Research Officer to its Centre for Health Economics and Medicines Evaluation (CHEME). Applications are invited from post-doctoral researchers with an existing track record of quantitative or mixed methods health services research.

This post offers an excellent opportunity for career development for a post-doctoral researcher with experience of conducting health services research (quantitative or mixed methods). Applications by researchers with experience of preference elicitation methods are particularly welcomed. CHEME is a multidisciplinary research unit and draws from a wide variety of background including health economics, behavioural sciences, statistics, and pharmacy/clinical/health specialities.

The post holder will contribute to the GRACE project, funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). This study aims to creating Patient - Centred Infrastructures to Enhance Informed Consent and Improve Patient Experience of Radiotherapy for Gynaecological Cancers. The role holder will contribute to research to elicit patient preferences for benefits and risks of treatments for gynae-radiotherapy. The work will primarily involve systematic review of clinical literature, qualitative interviews with patients, and the design, conduct and analysis of a survey including a discrete choice experiment to elicit preferences for cancer treatment.

Applications are welcome from candidates with a PhD (or near completion) in a relevant subject i.e. health economics, social or behavioural science, choice modelling, or health services research. The candidate will have good inter-personal skills, previous experience of conducting empirical research in a health care setting, and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.

The ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is desirable for this post.

The post is available immediately, for a fixed term period until 28th February 2027. An extension beyond this will be dependent on research funding being awarded to the post holder and the research unit.

This role will be located at our Bangor campus. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.
