Bangor Business School is home to a diverse academic community committed to advancing knowledge and driving positive change. As the host institution of Rhanbarth – the Centre for Sustainable Regions and Economies – we bring together multidisciplinary research on inclusive and sustainable regional development in all its forms. Our research aligns with Bangor University’s Strategy 2030, emphasizing sustainability, international excellence, and transformative impact. Spanning topics from financial markets to tourism, consumer behaviour to governance, our work addresses both local issues in north-west Wales and global challenges.
Applications are invited for a competitive fully-funded PhD studentship in the Bangor Business School at Bangor University, Wales. We will be considering PHD research proposals in all areas in Management and Business (e.g. consumer behaviour, organisational behaviour, data analytics, tourism, destinations and place engagement, responsible banking, financial innovation, accounting, marketing, business and management) – please see our list of research interests on our academic staff pages at Bangor Business School.
Eligibility:
You must have qualifications or experience equal to an honour’s degree at a first or upper second-class level, or a master's from a UK academic research organisation. Please note that you may need to provide evidence of your English Language proficiency.
Funding Details:
The studentship funded by the ESRC covers tuition fees, an annual tax-free living stipend of in line with UKRI minimum rates (currently £19,237 for 2024/25). If you have a disability, you may be entitled to a Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA) on top of your studentship. Students have access to a Research Training Support Grant (worth up to £940 per year).
Duration of study:
The duration study is dependent on prior research experience and training needs which will be assessed by completing an Initial Development Needs Analysis (Initial DNA) at the application stage and a Full DNA prior to award if successful. Duration of study may vary from 3.5-4.5 years, full time (or part time equivalent) dependent on your prior research experience.
