The role

The Centre for Academic Language and Development is seeking to appoint an outstanding Deputy Centre Administration Manager to help lead and develop the Centre’s large administration team and manage the delivery of student administration services.

As part of the University’s ambitious Internationalisation strategy, the Centre is currently undergoing an exciting period of change: your skills in communication, negotiation, continuous process improvement, and attention to detail will be imperative. This post reports to the Centre’s two Centre Administration Managers – deputising for them as and when required – and line manages multiple Senior Administrator and Student Administrator posts. The role requires demonstrable experience of supervising workloads and output quality as well as a passion for leading and developing colleagues.

What will you be doing?

This role requires an individual to be both a manager and a team player, and to have the skills to balance both individual and team workloads. The ability to take initiative and be proactive is key – as is the ability to seek out and make improvements to non-typical university processes. We are seeking someone able to work in partnership with teaching and professional services staff to drive forward change and deliver effective, efficient processes, yet be flexible and adaptable.

This role will primarily support the Centre’s International Foundation Programme, which is a full-time, one-year university preparation course, designed to prepare international students for degree-level study at the University of Bristol.

You should apply if

  • You have demonstratable student administration experience, knowledge of education processes and enjoy using your organisational skills to deliver a high-quality service to students and staff.
  • You are looking to broaden your management experience within education administration or looking to take a first step into a managerial role.
  • You have a high standard of interpersonal skills, can communicate clearly with staff and students and build effective working relationships.
  • You are flexible and a good team player, as well as being able to work independently and show initiative.
  • You thrive in a busy environment, both multi-tasking and reacting quickly to changing circumstances, but also be proactive in improving processes and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • You are experienced in using a range of IT systems and able to adapt to new systems and processes quickly.
