About the Role
For informal enquiries, please contact Professor Pat Unwin (Head of Department) at p.r.unwin@warwick.ac.uk.
This post is part-time at 0.5 FTE.
The Department of Chemistry is seeking a proactive and highly skilled Project Manager to contribute to the success of a diverse portfolio of research projects within the newly established Centre for Experimental Fuel Technologies – an innovative collaboration between the Department of Chemistry, School of Engineering, and WMG.
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the full project management cycle, from developing and implementing comprehensive project plans to reporting on progress to a range of stakeholders. You will ensure budgets are monitored, resources are effectively managed, and legal and financial compliance is maintained.
Collaborating closely with Academic Leads and a broad network of international partners, you will play a key role in ensuring project goals are achieved within agreed timelines and budgets. You will also represent the Centre at external events and work alongside the Academic Leads to promote the Centre's initiatives across the University and to wider audiences.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an inclusive and forward-thinking venture at the University of Warwick.
About You
You will bring a strong foundation in project management, developed through a degree-level qualification or equivalent experience within a research, Higher Education, or similar environment. With a proven ability to interpret and advise on guidelines, terms, and conditions—including those related to data protection, research governance, and ethics - you will help ensure that all project activities comply with required standards.
You will bring financial management experience, adept at overseeing project budgets to ensure they align with objectives. Your organisational and time management skills will support the timely, high-quality delivery of project goals, and you will establish and maintain effective record-keeping systems, including financial records and databases.
Your clear communication and collaborative approach will allow you to engage effectively with colleagues across roles and backgrounds, and your ability to present complex data succinctly will support key decision-making and reporting. You will be comfortable managing shifting priorities and flexible in adapting as project needs evolve.
As a self-starter, you will take the initiative and work independently within project parameters, while also helping guide decisions and approaching sensitive or confidential matters with diplomacy. Your analytical, problem-solving skills, combined with proficiency in IT tools such as Excel, will help ensure seamless project operations.
If you are passionate about impactful projects and thrive in a dynamic environment, we welcome your application.
