About the role:
We are looking for Health & Safety Coordinator to join our health & Safety Department based at The Bedford College Group. As a Health & Safety Coordinator you will play a pivotal role in the success of our students by:
Encouraging a culture of safety excellence and compliance across The Bedford College Group (TBCG) and to promote safe working practices, to ensure the wellbeing of our students, staff and visitors.
Supporting the Head of Health and Safety/Health and Safety Advisor in managing, developing and promoting health and safety policies and procedures to meet TBCG’s objectives to deliver high standards of health, safety and welfare.
Providing professional health and safety advice and guidance to line managers and the senior management team, in terms of monitoring health and safety standards in their areas, and to recognise and understand their H & S responsibilities and obligations.
Continuously improving standards in line with legislative changes and best practice.
Working with the Health and Safety Advisor, ensuring our control systems are continuously monitored, inspected, and audited to provide assurance to the Bedford College Group Executive and Executive Corporation board that health and safety compliance is effective and sustainable.
Working with the Health and Safety Advisor, implementing an annual schedule of internal health & safety audits and inspections across all departments, produce written reports on remedial actions and ensuring practical, cost-effective solutions.
About you:
NEBOSH Certificate (level 3) or willingness to work towards qualification
Willingness to train as a first aider
Experience of using word and Excel to produce a range of business documents, including reports and correspondence
Experience of communicating with customers
Evidence of high performance in previous roles/jobs
Experience of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organisational skills. Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
Excellent report writing skills
Willingness to gain various technical Health and Safety competencies in a variety of disciplines
Responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and for raising any concerns
