Programme Tutor - Computing

Oldham College

At Oldham college, we are at the forefront of digital education, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic and commited tutor to teach our HNC, Level 3 and T Level students with our specialist Advanced and professional Digital team.

If you’re passionate about digital technology and want to play a pivotal role in transforming the learning experience for students further and higher education students at Oldham college, this is the opportunity for you. 

We have a multi skilled team who are teaching broad and specialist IT courses who all believe in the potential of every individual student and are focused on building the future skills our students for exciting careers in the IT Industry. 

Our pathways include Digital Infrastructure, Digital Production Design and Development and Digital Business Services. We are looking for a tutor that has broad skills with knowledge of Programming, Network management, principles and architecture, virtual environments, cyber security and project management.

Preferably you will have industry experience and a teaching qualification but we are looking for someone that has proven experience of working and teaching young people and is able to model professional behaviours for our students. 

As a tutor you will be an inspirational teacher, driving the development of our students and shaping their future. You will provide them with a high quality learning experience and the opportunities to develop their knowledge skills and behaviour.

You will establish outstanding quality of experience for our students with our team of dedicated and experienced tutors. You will need excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to form positive and professional relationships with your students to allow them to thrive in your classes. You will be at the heart of our mission to empower our students with the cutting edge skills needed for success in the IT Industry. 

As a tutor you will also be a mentor and progress tutor for a group of students wanting to progress their professional careers in our fantastic computing labs and workshops. This area is adapts individual learning experiences with ALS for supported students to see them progress to their next step. 

You will:

  • Lead the development of the Digital Curriculum, including the early development of our T Level offer and the delivery of our HTQ qualifications.  
  • Inspire and challenge our students to achieve their study programmes and progress seamlessly to their next steps 
  • Utilize our extensive industry links to shape and innovate curriculum in collaboration with our advisory board 
  • Foster a supportive and professional environment with your team achieving high standards of curriculum delivery 
  • Leverage the outstanding facilities we have in our Digital and Creative Centre encouraging high standards of delivery. 
  • Ensure that your quality of teaching and learning is outstanding and curriculum delivery is impactful for our students. 

Requirements: 

  • Our tutors are dual practitioners and demonstrate expertise in teaching and learning as well as having recent experience and track record of working in the Digital Industries. However, we are happy to welcome industry specialists who have some experience in teaching and working with students of 14-18yrs and as a result are keen to continue to develop their teaching skills.  
  • Qualifications could include BSc (Computing subject)  or another IT based subject 
  • Experience of working in the IT Industry 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a flexible and professional attitude
