Our laboratory in the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID) studies genetically-affected pathways that predispose for immune-related diseases.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrophysiology and cell biology as well as a broad experimental skill set, but we are in particular looking for a postdoc who is either proficient in patch clamping or is willing to learn and use this technique on a regular basis. We seek an applicant who is willing to manage research project and its administrative tasks, documentation and quality control of methodology, experimental data and results. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational skills and may contribute to teaching by assisting in the supervision of student research projects.

Experience in animal studies including a home office license would be ideal as one part of this project will involve studying the role of a G-protein coupled receptor in murine models of Crohn's Disease.

The main project will be focused on the biology of an orphan G-protein coupled receptor (GPR35) that plays a major role in inflammation and colorectal cancer by modulating the sodium-potassium pump. It will include electrophysiology studies, molecular biology, single cell sequencing, and phenotyping of genetically altered mice.

We hope to recruit a colleague who shares our passion for discovery and who looks for an exciting challenge within a multidisciplinary group.
