The Role
At Kingston University we’re passionate about the power of a university education to transform lives. Through our ambitious Town House Strategy, we are leading the way in Future Skills education in the United Kingdom, with a growing international reputation founded on this approach. Known for inclusivity, we are ranked among the top universities nationally in several subjects in the Guardian University Guide and are one of only 26 higher education providers awarded three gold ratings in the latest Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). Our progressive model of education aims to enhance students' life chance and ensure our graduates and staff are sought after for their knowledge, skills, and innovation.
Society is changing at pace and employers increasingly need graduates with skills like creative problem-solving, digital competency and adaptability. Our Town House Strategy addresses these needs, ensuring that every student acquires the Future Skills critical to industry. Respected for our world-leading research, we’re also collaborating with businesses and other external bodies to grow our research and knowledge exchange impact.
To support the delivery of our ambitions, a new Directorate has been established to strengthen our ability to implement the Town House Strategy, including the creation of an in-house Strategic Portfolio Office (SPO). Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Strategy, the Director of the SPO will lead the office responsible for the Town House Strategy’s successful delivery, ensuring targeted outcomes are achieved, in budget and within timescales and to required quality standards. The role will include establishing, owning and providing ongoing assurance for an aligned way of working and delivering programmes and projects across the University.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in implementing PMOs within complex environments, with significant experience in operational and strategic management, including policy adherence and development, risk frameworks, and compliance. They will also excel in managing stakeholders at all organisational levels, with proven skills in negotiation and influencing outcomes.
