Annual leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Main duties and responsibilities
The Senior Admissions & Selection Officer (Hertfordshire Medical School) will lead the admissions and selection team to deliver undergraduate admissions for the MBBS programme, processing applications on the student record system and making decisions about the suitability of individual applications based on approved entry requirements. You will provide expert advice on a range of international and UK qualifications and take ownership for specific stages of the admissions process, including screening, submitting decisions, issuing CAS (Certificate of Acceptance of Studies) and liaison with regional representatives. You will plan, coordinate and facilitate the MBBS Multi Mini Interviews (MMIs) selection process.
You will be responsible for developing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and keeping abreast of the latest medical school updates and trends in the UK. You will represent Hertfordshire Medical School in events, and support medicine-specific outreach events nationally and overseas, promoting MBBS to prospective students. You will support the development of marketing and recruitment materials and prepare management reports on student applicant numbers, interviews, recruitment event engagement.
Skills and experience required
You must have experience of working in HE Admissions and have effective planning and organisational skills, an ability to produce written copy that is accurate and understandable to target audiences, a creative and innovative approach to strategic thinking and problem solving and well-developed administrative and organisational skills with attention to deadlines. You must also be able to confidently deliver a high standard of oral communication to audiences of various levels of seniority and deliver talks and presentations to a high standard.
You must have experience using multiple information systems, competent IT skills including MS Suite to support effective management of your own workload, and specifically, a knowledge of Higher Education application systems. You will be proficient in maintaining accurate and up-to-date recruitment and selection databases.
You must be able to work effectively and in collaboration with a small team of people, as well as working independently on your own initiative. You will have well developed interpersonal skills, able to develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, further supported by effective oral and written communications skills. This role requires you to be flexible and adapt to change and team requirements and be willing to work evenings and weekends (with potential overnight stays away from home).
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a degree or equivalent qualification, or have proven relevant work experience.
