We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, process-driven individual to join the University’s Admissions team to deliver undergraduate admissions for the new Hertfordshire Medical School.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Admissions & Selection Officer (Hertfordshire Medical School) will deliver undergraduate admissions for the MBBS programme, processing application forms on the University’s student record system, and making initial judgements about the suitability of individual applications based on the programme’s approved entry requirements. You will provide expert advice on a wide range of international and UK qualifications and take ownership for specific stages of the admissions process, including screening, submitting decisions, issuing CAS (Certificate of Acceptance of Studies) and liaison with regional representatives. You will also support the coordination and facilitation of the MBBS Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) selection process.
You will be responsible for developing relationships with key internal stakeholders and ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of decision-making. You will attend on-campus and virtual events and provide admissions and selection advice and guidance for the MBBS programme to agents, schools, agents, prospects and their parents throughout the application cycle.
Skills and experience required
You must have experience of working in HE Admissions, preferably in a medical school, with a knowledge of higher education application systems and the ability to prepare, present and assimilate reports and information. You will have effective planning and organisational skills, an ability to produce written copy that is accurate and understandable, a creative and innovative approach to problem solving and well-developed administrative skills with attention to deadlines. You must also have effective oral and written communication skills and experience in delivering excellent customer service, supported by well-developed interpersonal skills.
You will be able to work both effectively and collaboratively within a small team and independently on your own initiative. This role requires you to have competent IT Skills, including MS Suite, and are willing to work evenings and weekends when required, maintaining a flexible and adaptable approach to change and team requirements.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with A-levels or equivalent qualification or proven relevant work experience.
