About the role

The Payroll Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the Imperial's payroll and pension data. This person will be a problem solver and able to resolve data/ accounting issues independently as they arise within the Payroll and Pension accounts with minimal management supervision.

What you would be doing

You will be responsible for ensuring all debt schedules (car leases, season ticket loans, pay advances) are correct, for reconciling Payroll and Pension account balances including those mentioned, for maintaining the general ledger, and for ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies

What we are looking for

  • Part Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CCAB, ACA) or similar level of qualification
  • Experience of working in a Payroll team
  • Experience of reconciling complex Payroll and Pension accounts independently
  • Detailed knowledge of employment and tax legislation or knowledge of USS, SAUL & NHS Pensions scheme rules
  • Knowledge of Reconciliations and resolving complex data issues
  • Detailed working knowledge of Payroll software (ideally Oracle)
  • Working Knowledge of Blackline reconciliations software
  • Ability to work independently and resolve accounting issues as they arise
  • Excellent analytical skills - ability to identify issues in data and reconcile complex accounts with large datasets
  • Ability to problem solve and find solutions to data incongruities
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to present complex data sets clearly and concisely to senior management
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks, with limited management supervision
  • Good written and verbal communications skills, to be able to explain information about pay and pensions to non-experts
