At an exciting time in its development, the University of Wolverhampton is seeking a new Dean of Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing. Renowned for its commitment to widening participation and its diverse student body, the University places students at the centre of everything it does and positions itself as a driver of social and economic transformation.
The largest Faculty in the University, the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing has circa 6500 students and almost 500 staff across six Schools: Allied Health and Midwifery; Education; Nursing; Psychology; Health and Society; and Sport. The new Dean will lead and nurture the Faculty, as it moves towards a new stage of growth. They will drive high performance in all areas of activity, develop an ambitious knowledge exchange agenda, and refresh and update the curriculum. Reporting into the PVC Academic Leadership and Student Experience, the new Dean will play an important role in the broader leadership of the University, both championing the Faculty within the University and serving as an external ambassador for the Faculty with key external stakeholders, such as the NHS. They will sit on University Executive Board.
Strong candidates will demonstrate a strong track record of delivery in an academic leadership post and excellence in a relevant discipline. They will ideally have an understanding of the health and wellbeing perspective. They will be a proven leader, capable of taking staff with them, working effectively with students, and tackling complex challenges. Candidates must be committed to offering an outstanding education and student experience, and will also bring an understanding of growing research and knowledge exchange. They will be an inspiring and solutions-oriented leader, with a positive outlook, as well as practical expertise. They will be able to think strategically and plan for the long-term. The Faculty has huge potential, and this is an excellent opportunity for someone to make their mark.
