We are looking for an outstanding individual to join us as a Stage Management Lecturer in our Production Arts Department. The Stage Management Lecturer works predominantly in the Stage Management Pathway, teaching, tutoring and supervising work across all areas of stage management, including ASM, DSM, and SM roles. You will have extensive industry experience that demonstrates continued high standing in the profession. You will be responsible for teaching stage management across areas including theatre, opera, live events, film, television and/or digital production (it is not necessary to have experience in all areas; appointments will be made with a view to utilising the skills of the chosen candidate). You will supervise students undertaking production and project work and oversee safe working practices. You will also contribute to wider teaching, tutoring and assessment activities in the department. You will have a good understanding of the needs of students in a complex learning and performing arts environment; and the ability to represent your discipline in the public domain through professional/industry sector engagement and consultancy.
The Production Arts Department is responsible for BA Production Arts, BA Digital Design & Production and MA Collaborative Theatre Production and Design; a series of short courses and outreach activities; and extensive production activity in the School’s programme of public-facing performances and events. We work closely on a range of productions (including operas, dramas, site-specific and digital works) with other departments at Guildhall and (through Guildhall Production Studio) a range of external and commercial partners. Our students learn through workshop-based activities, study and intensive production practice. They have opportunities to extend their knowledge by working on pathways other than their major area of study, and to develop their own interests and creative agency through independent projects. The Department is values-led and promotes diversity and inclusivity along with sustainable practices.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing teaching in their areas of specialism. You will be organised, a team player, able to meet deadlines and manage your own workload. You will have up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and a commitment to promoting safe working & inclusive practices.
