We are looking for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to investigate the gene regulatory networks that control maize leaf development in the group of Dr Annis Richardson (The Plant Shape Lab) in the Institute of Molecular Plant Sciences.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team investigating the gene regulatory networks that govern maize leaf development. The project will involve using genetics, transcriptomics, and proteomics to reveal components of the network and how they interact. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in plant molecular biology, genetics, or a related field, with a particular focus on the mechanisms that influence leaf architecture and function in maize. This position is funded by the ERC Starting Grant entitled “DynaLines - Drawing lines in a dynamic environment: delineating domains from base to tip in plants”.

As part of the Plant Shape Lab you will join an inclusive team of people with a passion for plant development, maize genetics, and science communication. You will also have the opportunity to work with our diverse collaborators, and represent the lab at national and international conferences.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • PhD in an appropriate biological science.
  • Experience of studying plant development.
  • Experience of using molecular approaches to determine developmental mechanisms.
  • Extensive experience working independently to generate high-quality, well-documented data
  • Excellent communication skills, and a good ability to work as part of a team
