About the post and team

The University of Suffolk is an ambitious new institution. We have identified growing our health and wellbeing portfolio as a strategic priority and as a result there has been significant investment in growing our health-related teaching facilities, in the form of our >£13 million new health and wellbeing quarter.

In addition, the University has worked in partnership with the SNEE ICB to develop NHS-dental clinical facilities on our Ipswich campus. This is an innovative partnership which will have a positive impact on the oral health of our local community. In early 2024, we completed this development by launching our new BSc (Hons) in Dental Hygiene and Therapy housed within our brand-new Dental facilities in the School of Allied Health Sciences.

We are therefore looking to appoint academics to join our expanding Dental Team. The post holders will be part of the lecturing team that will continuously develop, improve, and deliver the BSc (Hons) Dental Hygiene and Therapy provision. You will work closely with our Course Leader and Dean of School, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning).

About You

We are looking to recruit resilient, forward thinking, and innovative professionals who are eager to embrace this unique opportunity to shape Dental Hygiene and Therapy undergraduate education in Suffolk and complement our expanding team. The post holders will also support the University’s mission to make a major contribution to oral health of people in the region and to make a positive impact on society.

You will hold current GDC registration as a dental therapist or dentist; hold a relevant higher degree level qualification and have experience in delivery of oral health education in the higher education setting.

We are seeking highly motivated and talented candidates, who will not only make the most of opportunities provided by our School, but also help to develop new opportunities in research and teaching.

Benefits

- Generous annual leave entitlement of 25 days for Bands 1-4 and 30 days for Bands 5 and above, plus 8 bank holidays and any university closure days.
- Agile and flexible working, including family friendly policies.
- We offer a competitive pension scheme through USS.
- Staff discounts at a number of local amenities.
- Discounted membership at various Ipswich Fit sites: unlimited access to gyms, swimming lanes, fitness classes and discounted racket sports.
- We offer up to a 100% fee waiver for staff approved to study a UoS undergraduate or postgraduate course, subject to a set of criteria and conditions.
- Cycle to Work scheme.
- Electric vehicle salary sacrifice.
- Wellbeing programmes.
- Staff recognition annual awards.

Closing Date: Friday 22 November 2024
Interview Date: Tuesday 3 December 2024
