We are looking for a dedicated Welfare Officer to enhance our residential life and support our vibrant student community during the evening hours.
As a vital member of our Accommodation Services team, you will be responsible for responding to resident needs and incidents throughout the night, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment. You will collaborate with the Accommodation Welfare Manager to promote community engagement through evening Residential Life (ResLife) activities.
You will manage any incidents that occur overnight, coordinating effectively with Security and Resident Assistants and escalating issues as necessary. Additionally, you will oversee the Resident Assistants on duty, ensuring that assigned tasks are completed to a high standard. A key responsibility will be to address discipline, welfare, and pastoral care issues within the residences, collaborating with the Accommodation Welfare Manager to maintain a conducive living environment for study and personal growth.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated and adaptable, able to work effectively under pressure while prioritising tasks in a fast-paced environment. You will stay informed about developments in the Higher Education student housing sector and seek out professional development opportunities to enhance your skills. A commitment to the University’s policies on equality, diversity, and inclusion is essential, along with compliance with health and safety regulations and data protection legislation.
This role requires flexibility in working arrangements, including evening and night shifts, and the post-holder must be willing to travel between university sites as needed. An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check will be required, and the appointment will be conditional upon satisfactory clearance.
