Are you an experienced researcher who enjoys working collaboratively? We have an exciting opportunity to join us as Research Associate in Native AI Air Interfaces for 6G in the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. The project will develop new native artificial intelligence air interface techniques for 6G and beyond networks operating from sub-6GHz to sub-220GHz. Maximising the benefits of 6G air interfaces requires research into novel waveforms for improved system performance in high mobility high dynamic environments, and novel software-defined-radio (SDR) techniques for improved radio hardware efficiency. The project will use a combination of digital twin simulation and empirical measurements utilising the UKRI National 6G Radio Systems Facility (N6GRSF) at Sheffield to demonstrate solution efficacy.
We are seeking a creative person for the THz-AIr project to contribute to the development of new 6G air-interface waveforms and their evaluation using the N6GRSF. Part of the work involves helping to extend the N6GRSF capabilities by contributing to the procurement and commissioning of an 5G Open RAN platform with AI/ML compute functionality. You will work closely with the Facility’s team, directed by Prof. Timothy O’Farrell FREng. The role is ideal for a communication systems researcher wishing to develop 6G communications skills.
Benefits include:
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
