The full-time starting salary is normally £41,814.00 per annum pro rata, with progression available in post to £45,449.00 per annum pro rata.

Part Time (29.6 hours per week) Fixed term until 31 May 2027.

Interviews will provisionally take place week commencing 06 January 2024.

As a member of a thriving team, you will be responsible teaching economics undergraduate modules (such as economic history, political economy, sustainable development, statistics) and some business postgraduate modules when necessary. In addition, you will be expected to carry out student pastoral care and other administrative duties appropriate to the role.

The main responsibilities are as follows:

  • Teach economics undergraduate modules (such as economic history, political economy, sustainable development, statistics) and some business postgraduate modules when necessary.
  • Use appropriate learning, teaching, support and assessment methods. 
  • Supervise student projects and the academic elements of field trips, and, where appropriate, placements.
  • Engage in scholarship as required to support teaching activities and continually update knowledge. 
  • Conduct individual research or work on collaborative research projects. 
  • Be responsible for administrative duties as required by the role.

Essential Requirements:

  • PhD degree or close to PhD completion in the economics subject
  • Teaching qualification or prepare to work towards
  • Expertise gained from leading edge industry practice will be considered as desirable
  • Sufficient breadth or depth of economics discipline (such as economic history, political economy, sustainable development, statistics) to develop teaching programmes and the provision of learning support.
  • Knowledge of higher education and ability to use a range of delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students.
  • Understand equal opportunity issues as they may impact on academic content and issues relating to student need.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
