We are seeking an experienced and motivated Research Fellow to join our team to contribute to a CRUK-funded project investigating the use of a urine-based molecular early detection test for bladder cancer in a case-control study recruited in Bangladesh. The study population are anticipated to be at high risk of arsenic exposure, which will be investigated in relation to the outcome of interest. The successful candidate will be employed by QUB under the supervisi on of Dr Dan Middleton, working collaboratively with an international team of scientists at the University of Dhaka, the International Agency for Research on Cancer, and the British Geological Survey. About the person:

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria:

  • A primary degree or Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, genetics or a biostatistics related subject.
  • Have or be about to obtain* a relevant PhD one of the above disciplines, preferably relevant to cancer(within 3 months of the closing date of the post).
  • Significant, relevant, recent research experience and skills relevant to this project e.g. cancer epidemiology study designs, biostatistical analysis, database management, statistical analysis, or working with large epidemiological or genomic datasets.
  • Experience of using statistical packages such as R.
  • Contribution to authorship of articles in international scientific peer-reviewed journals, commensurate with stage of career.

Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
