Are you an experienced trainer, with an eye for detail, that can present complex information and bring learning content to life for a range of audiences?

The University's Finance Division Training Team is seeking someone who is, or can rapidly become an expert in using the University's wide range of financial systems, to train others across a varied spectrum of disciplines and ensure that key supporting resources are kept up to date. The University is currently implementing an ambitious Finance Transformation Programme. Primarily you will be responsible for delivering our existing portfolio of virtual and in-person courses. However, as the programme progresses there will also be the opportunity to assist with supporting colleagues on the adoption of new systems and improved ways of working.

The Finance Training team can offer training opportunities in this role. If you do not meet all the essentials criteria but could be assumed to do so in a reasonable time frame, we can offer a milestone progression plan. The substantive grade for this post is Grade 7. You would be under appointed at Grade 6 in recognition of your need to undertake further in service training before being sufficiently experienced to perform the duties of the post fully. Your progress in the post will be reviewed regularly and on satisfactory completion of your training you will be paid at the appropriate point on that grade. It is expected that the progression to Grade 7 will be achieved within 12-18 months in post.

The role

You will:

  • Deliver standard and bespoke courses on University's finance systems, both in person and virtually to departmental staff across the University.
  • Identify learning needs and develop new training solutions to support new ways of working and systems.
  • Create and maintain detailed training guides, desk aids, and short videos to support the University systems and processes.
  • Evaluate the achievement of learning objectives.

Your skills

Ideally you will be experienced in developing and delivering training for large organisational finance systems, with the ability to create digital learning resources an advantage. In addition to excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will also have well-honed organisational skills and be highly proficient with MS Office to enable you to deal effectively with multiple projects and stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of A-Level standard with both training and accountancy qualifications (e.g., AAT or above) or have comparable experience.

Benefits

The University offers an excellent benefit package including:

  • 41 days annual leave, inclusive of Bank Holidays
  • Defined benefits pension schemes
  • Flexible working options
  • Family-friendly initiatives
  • Career development opportunities
  • Support for health & mental wellbeing
  • Discounts on shopping
  • Rental deposit scheme
  • Public transport season ticket loans
  • Tax-efficient bicycle and charity-giving schemes.

Location

The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. The aim of our approach is to enable as many staff as possible to work in a hybrid way if they wish and where their role allows. This arrangement is subject to change and will not form a part of the contractual terms of the role.

Fixed-term: Funding for this post is available until 31 July 2027 in the first instance.

The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.
