The Role
Research & Data Manager (maternity cover, Fixed Term – 6 months)
The Careers Group (TCG) is seeking a data-savvy project manager to provide maternity cover for our Research & Data Manager.
TCG provides support to its member higher education (HE) careers services in order to help them better meet the careers and employability needs of their students. One key aspect of that support is helping member services implement evidence-informed practice. The Research Unit, situated within TCG’s Central Team, does this by keeping decision-makers informed of research developments in the sector, by providing advice and training to staff and by undertaking bespoke analytics projects on behalf of our members. This could include work to better understand the career development and employability needs of students and graduates or to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of service activities.
The Research & Data Manager is responsible for understanding and anticipating the evidence needs of our member services. You will do this by regularly engaging with key stakeholders and by monitoring key national, regional and international data projects related to HE careers and employability. You will evaluate the feasibility of project requests and will manage a small team of analysts delivering multiple projects by overseeing the full life-cycle of specification, planning, implementation monitoring and review. You will also manage communications and organise events related to evidence-informed practice.
