We are looking to recruit a Senior Research Officer to join us on a fixed-term basis to help deliver a project.

You will work on a range of research projects within the school including leading on an exciting and innovative project with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) representing the school and working as part of an interprofessional team to carry out and participate in leading research and using evidence to inform clinical decision making and practice. This post is part of a research team working towards the school research strategy addressing two exciting programmes of research. Each programme of research will be led by the Principal Investigator (PI), with a Senior Research Officer, Research Officer, and a doctoral student. 

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) was formed on 1 July 2018 through the merger of Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust and The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust. ESNEFT covers a large region in the East of England including part of the coastal areas providing services from Colchester and Ipswich hospitals, Aldeburgh, Clacton, Halstead, Harwich and Felixstowe community hospitals and Bluebird Lodge near Ipswich. Colchester and Ipswich hospitals have the major accident and emergency (A&E) departments; and community services are provided to the Suffolk area.

This post is part of a research team working towards the school research strategy addressing two exciting programmes of research: Programme 1 – Stroke: accessing health service in coastal areas; and Programme 2 – Dementia – fundamental of care. Each programme of research will be led by the Principal Investigator (PI), with a Senior Research Officer, Research Officer, and a doctoral student. We are now recruiting the final post, a Senior Research Officer to complement our team to lead on Programme 1 and this post is available now until 25 September 2026.

Research Programme 1 – Stroke - Accessing health services in coastal areas

This programme will look at health inequalities/EDI in accessing health care; with a focus on early intervention and access of services and care targeting barriers and exploring facilitators, specifically in coastal areas of deprivation. Target population to be explored based on existing health data.

About you

You will have a relevant doctoral level degree or equivalent professional experience or practice or be close to completion of PhD (desirable for Research officer), evidence of a developing research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile, strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and a commitment to helping develop dynamic communities of research and education at the University.
