About the role:
The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking a Resource Manager to cover a period of Maternity leave in 2025. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who is seeking an opportunity to step up into a management role.
Responsible for all personnel processes within the department, the Resource Manager supports our 60+ line managers and 220+ staff in their everyday activities. Overseeing the entire employee journey from recruitment to resignation, the postholder is integral to the smooth running of development, wellbeing and pay & progression processes. Liaising with Imperial HR teams, the postholder will establish themselves as a conduit between the needs of the department and College policies and procedures.
As a central figure in the department with exposure to the entire staff community, the postholder will chair the departmental Events Group and be an active member of the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Committee, ensuring that all staff can engage in community building activities, collating and analysing data, recommending actions and process changes based on diversity information and staff experiences, and representing best practice in communication and transparency.
Working closely with the wider operations team, the Resource Manager will ensure proper financial management of staffing budgets on research projects and recurrent accounts; acting as the approver for salary commitments and contract changes. They will also use their knowledge and skills to support the Director of Research in ensuring processes for internal research funding and offering comprehensive feedback on proposals are robust and in line with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles.
