The mission of the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health is to maximise and advocate for the holistic health of all children, young people and the adults they will become, through world-class research, education and public engagement. The UCL GOS ICH, together with its clinical partner Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, forms the largest concentration of children’s health research outside North America. The 2024-29 GOS ICH strategy focuses on its five scientific programmes. GOS ICH’s activities include active engagement with children and families, to ensure that our work is relevant and appropriate to their needs. GOS ICH generates the funding for our research by setting out our proposals in high quality applications to public, charitable and industrial funding bodies and disseminates the results of our research by publication in the medical and scientific literature, to clinicians, policy makers and the wider public. About the role

Applicants are invited for an Experimental Officer position to work in microarray stream at UCL Genomics, the main genomics facility at UCL which is based in the Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children. This post has arisen due to the large increase in projects to this important stream. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with experience or interest in microarray profiling to join our collaborative genomics facility. This is a varied, lab-based role and the successful applicant will join a very busy facility working closely with our other microarray applications specialists and other members of the facility to provide genomics service prov ision to both internal and external users such as scientists, clinicians and industry professionals. This post is available initially until December 2026 with the possibility of extension.

About you

BSc in a biological subject or related. MSc in biological subject with good understanding of genomic technologies is desirable. The postholder will have considerable practical experience (wet lab) of molecular biology techniques, some understanding of the analysis of genomics data in at least one area, experience of QC procedures (such as Tapestation, Qubit, Bioanalyser and qPCR), experience of development and optimisation of lab protocols.
