We are looking to appoint a Research Assistant to join the Dementias Platform UK (DPUK) MND Research Data Catalyst team. This is a new initiative led by DPUK and Health Data Research UK with funding from the Department of Health and Social Care, delivered through the National Institute of Health and Care Research.
The post is based in the Department of Psychiatry and is full-time
The post is for a fixed term (funded to 30 June 2026).
You will manage your own research and data administrative activities, within guidelines provided by MND Research Data Catalyst Project Manager and other senior colleagues and will contribute to wider ontology-focused projects. You will also select, follow, and adapt specialist data ontology methodologies to suit a cross-cohort platform environment and identify suitable alternatives where information is restricted; conduct data cleaning and standardisation across MND datasets to a predefined standard (DPUK C-Surv data model) and harmonise select variables across MND datasets to a predefined standard (DPUK C-Surv data model) for data visualisation.
You will have a first degree and relevant data curation experience in a health-related subject and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in a health-related subject to assist in variable selection for data curation and ontology work. With excellent communication skills, including the ability to write code (Stata), present data output at conferences, and represent the research group at meetings. Along with experience of working with large population cohorts and using statistical packages for data curation work e.g., Stata, Python, R. Experience of contributing to research publications/presentations and working in a research team would be desirable.
