UCL Arts and Science (UASc) is the leading interdisciplinary studies department in the UK, bringing together staff and students across arts and humanities, social sciences and sciences.

UASc oversees the MASc in Creative Health, the first of its kind in the UK and the world; both in relation to the qualification (Masters in Arts & Sciences) and the academic field of study (Creative Health). The Creative Health MASc addresses a growing interest in the fields of Arts and Health and social prescribing, with a focus on research-led practice, community engagement, non-clinical approaches to health and wellbeing, and experiential teaching. UASc also oversees the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BASc), the UK's leading interdisciplinary degree, covering arts, social sciences and sciences, as well as the Creative Arts and Humanities BA and an interdisciplinary doctoral programme.

We are seeking a 0.50 FTE Lecturer (Teaching) in Creative Health to cover a period of maternity leave between 1 April 2025 and 31 March 2026 to continue delivery of the Creative Health MASc programme.

The postholder will be involved in the development, co-ordination and delivery of Masters-level (Level 7) modules, with an especial emphasis on BASC0051 Lived Experience in Research, Policy and Practice (15 credits) and the BASC0050 Dissertation Project (90 credits) module. In addition, the successful candidate may be involved in other relevant modules.

The postholder will also act as an Academic Personal Tutor and help out at Open Days, pre- and post-offer information sessions and other student recruitment activities.

The postholder will be educated to Doctoral level in any interdisciplinary area relevant to health, creativity and interdisciplinary research methods, with experience in HE and teaching in creative health and / or, social prescribing / community-based approaches to health and / or arts and health. In addition, they must demonstrate a proven knowledge and understanding of issues in creative health and / or, social prescribing / community-based approaches to health and / or arts and health.

The postholder will also need to deliver education in teaching, curriculum development in creative health and the organisation and management of teaching programmes.

Experience of teaching and curriculum development at postgraduate taught level and the ability to build and sustain relationships with external partners, e.g. community organisations, health, social care and policy organisations, is desirable.

The postholder should also be a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy or show a commitment to achieving Fellowship status.

This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require the right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
