The University of Salford has an exciting new opportunity for a Research project officer!
We are looking for a motivated, organised and passionate research project officer to ensure the operational delivery of the NAPICU Children and young people intensive mental health services ( N-CYPIMHS). This part-time three-year post will support an exciting new national research project, funded by National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care (NAPICU), generating new evidence, intelligence and insights that will help improve services and outcomes for children and young people experiencing serious and complex mental health needs.
The number of children and young people who need intensive and/or emergency mental health care provision to resolve acute psychiatric disturbance appears to be increasing. There are many known challenges to provision of effective child-centred care in tertiary mental health services and little research undertaken in this field. There is an urgent need for a systematic understanding of clinical need and effective approaches to address the need, upon which national policy frameworks and future service provision can be based.
This is an exciting opportunity to operationalise a unique project which will include a programme of national stakeholder and service user engagement nationally and a mixed methods research design to establish a comprehensive understanding of how care provision for children and young people experiencing acute and complex mental health needs is organised, implemented and used in the UK. Identifying barriers and enablers to effective child-led intensive mental health care provision and drawing out implications for improving standards for future design and delivery of intensive therapeutic mental health care for young people.
Please note that the interviews for this opportunity will be held on 21st November
This post is two days per week (0.4FTE), which can be worked flexibly in terms of working hours enabling our colleagues to accommodate work life balance.
