Applications are invited for a Training Events Assistant to join the Advanced Training Group at the Earlham Institute, based in Norwich, UK.

Background:

The Advanced Scientific Training Group is responsible for delivering EI’s programme of training, events, and visitors programmes to disseminate our research and expertise to the wider research community.

The role:

The Events Assistant will:

  • Support the training programme portfolio and other events, including planning and operational running of the logistics and administrative aspects of organising events of various sizes
  • Set up registration forms for our events and monitor registrations
  • Raise invoices and monitor payments, working closely with our finance team
  • Be the first point of contact for our team, monitor a shared inbox and respond to general enquiries, liaise with event participants and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate the collection of feedback and statistics, monitoring of the events and ensuring evaluations and feedback are collected following a precise and comparable structure
  • Attend and support the smooth running of the events on-site or online where cover or extra support is required

The ideal candidate:

Earlham Institute are looking for an experienced, self-motivated individual to support our training and events calendar in addition to visiting students and workers.

You will be a pro-active person with a strong customer focus and professional attitude. You will be highly organised, approachable, and clear in your communication, both written and orally.

The successful candidate will be competent with computers, quick to learn and have the ability to think on their feet providing solutions to any issues arising. Due to the varied nature of our events, you will have a high degree of attention to detail and ability to monitor the progress of multiple events that are at various stages of development and delivery. You will be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Some out of hours work or adjustment to usual working pattern may be required for running of events, with plenty of notice.

This is a 20 hour per week role, and the preferred working pattern is across four days. However, other working patterns will be considered, where this provides sufficient cover for the training and events team.

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £23,250 to £25,400 per annum, pro-rata depending on qualifications and experience. This is a part-time post offered for two years initially with potential for extension.

Interviews are expected to be held week commencing 9 December 2024.
