We are seeking a motivated Clinical MD/PhD Fellow for a unique opportunity in cardiovascular hemodynamics research, funded by Edwards Life Sciences and based at the University of East Anglia and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals. Working with Principal Investigator Dr Pankaj Garg, MD, PhD, and Co-Principal Investigator Dr Gareth Matthews, MD, PhD, you will contribute to pioneering studies on right heart flow dynamics and their importance in conditions like heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. This Fellowship will focus on quantifying advanced right heart metrics, such as vorticity and kinetic energy, across healthy and patient cohorts using data from the PREFER-CMR registry—one of the world’s largest 4D flow CMR registries.
Your work will include conducting systematic reviews and observational studies, analysing right atrial flow to understand energy conservation and flow efficiency, with applications in developing new treatments. The role offers hands-on experience with state-of-the-art imaging tools, including Circle CVI and CAAS software, and supports achieving LEVEL III competency in Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) through direct training with imaging and hemodynamics experts. The Fellowship is designed to support peer-reviewed publication of findings, expanding cardiovascular knowledge and improving clinical applications. This position is ideal for an MD with a strong academic foundation and interest in cardiology or cardiovascular imaging, with the analytical skills and research drive to make a significant impact. If you are committed to advancing cardiovascular science and translating research into patient care improvements, we invite you to apply.
