We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate to make a leading contribution to the UKRI-funded Land Use for Net Zero project Rapid Engagement with Stressed Peatland Environments and Communities in Transformation “RESPECT” (PI – Prof Jill Robbie), Work Package 4: Policy and Practice for Peatland Transformations. You would be part of a team of PDRAs, based mainly at the University of Glasgow. The position is based in Glasgow, working with Prof Jill Robbie (line manager) and Prof Larissa Naylor.
Our project aims to produce new thinking and transdisciplinary research outputs to facilitate landholders to undertake peatland restoration on agricultural land and reduce carbon emissions through land use change. This post will involve producing a suite of governance reforms to scaffold the social innovations necessary to achieve transformative change in relation to land use and integrate land use goals within the Scottish and English contexts. The post will involve governance and policy analysis in relation to both Scotland and England, organisation of adaptive governance workshops to test the feasibility of proposed reforms with stakeholders, producing policy briefs and responding to legislative consultations. The post also involves co-working across multiple disciplines including geosciences, social sciences, and arts & humanities. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.
Candidates should be qualified to Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 [PhD] in a relevant field, such as law, geography or environmental management; or alternatively possess the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience, with experience of personal development in a similar or related role[s]
This post is full time and fixed term until 31 July 2027 (with a possibility of further extension of 5 months).
