Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 1st November 2024
Closes: 20th November 2024

Trinity College is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual who brings broad and deep experience in providing a programme of activities and resources which supports the academic transition of students to study at degree level, equipping them with skills and strategies to enable them to thrive academically and to support their personal, social and professional development in preparation for their lives beyond Trinity College.

The role is fixed term, covering a period of maternity leave commencing at the beginning of January 2025 until the end of January 2026 (unless the role holder returns to work on an earlier date).

Trinity College, founded in 1546 by Henry VIII, is the largest College in the University of Cambridge, with some 730 undergraduates, 350 graduate students, over 190 Fellows and around 330 non-academic staff. The beauty and size of Trinity’s historic buildings and courts attract visitors from all over the world, but the College is also a thriving, modern community, which exists to give its members a rewarding, richly resourced, and intellectually inspiring place in which to pursue their education and research.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, organisation and delivery of the College’s academic, personal and professional development programme for students as well as managing the practical arrangements and resources required to deliver the programme.

You will have oversight of the programme as a whole and an ability to manage a team. You will provide 1:1 academic and skills study support as well as seminars, workshops and other group sessions, providing advice to Tutors and Director of Studies regarding the needs of individual students.  Liaison with other key departments such Admissions, Outreach, Alumni Relations and Development will be essential to deliver an integrated programme for the College and support the College’s widening participation strategy.

You will have teaching experience, specifically teaching effective study practices e.g., academic writing, report writing, research skills, time management, and an understanding of supporting students from under-represented backgrounds and those for whom English is not their first language. You must be able to work independently, setting up your own systems. The job requires excellent interpersonal skills and sensitivity when dealing with difficult or delicate situations. You will have excellent IT skills, with the ability to produce teaching resources in different media. A Master’s degree (or equivalent), preferably PhD, is necessary, and a teaching qualification would be desirable.

Trinity College is a competitive and friendly employer. In addition to offering 25 days of holiday (plus 8 public holidays) a year, Trinity provides lunch to all employees who work on site, pension scheme and a variety of health and social activities.
