A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the group of Prof David Spring for a synthetic chemist with research experience in organic synthesis (preferably including complex total synthesis skills). The project involves new synthetic methodologies for the macrocylisation of peptides in aqueous conditions. Examples of results from related work can be found at https://www-spring.ch.cam.ac.uk/publications/publications.shtml.

You will have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry. You will ideally have expertise in complex natural product total synthesis and an interest in chemical biology. You will have carried out multi-step organic syntheses and characterised molecules by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Alongside this experience, you will be inspired by the biological activity of molecules. You will have an enthusiasm to extend the boundaries of your knowledge and to explore interactions with unfamiliar disciplines. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, and will be capable of working under your own initiative, and will be enthusiastic to interact and share your expertise with other members of the research group.
