We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Laboratory Technician to join the group of Prof Christoph Hess, based within the Cambridge Institute for Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID). The Hess laboratory investigates the metabolic basis of lymphocyte function and translational aspects of immunometabolic regulation. The successful candidate will support a research project seeking to decode polygenetic complexity in primary immunodeficiency, integrating advanced molecular biology and immunological techniques to map the molecular determinants that modify immunodeficiency severity.

The successful candidate will ideally hold a degree in a related biological sciences discipline, as well as laboratory experience in molecular biology and/or immunology. The post-holder will primarily undertake experiments isolating and culturing cell lines and patient-derived T cells ex vivo, and assess their function applying a wide variety of cellular assays. Familiarity with isolation of primary immune cell subsets from blood, cell culture, and flow cytometry are expected. Experience with a range of cellular and molecular biology techniques, such as Western blotting and ELISA is an advantage.

Candidates should also demonstrate evidence of being able to effectively troubleshoot research problems and adapt research protocols. A meticulous and orderly approach to laboratory work, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently, are essential. We are looking for a colleague who excels in a multidisciplinary team environment and is committed to working collaboratively to achieve the experimental objectives of the project.
