University College Dublin (UCD) has opened a PhD Scholarship for both home and international student for a programme of research in Financial Econometrics or Empirical Corporate Finance. UCD has a vibrant and diverse faculty engaged in some world-leading research. The candidate will work in the Banking and Finance Department under the supervision of Dr. Siqi Liu and Prof. John Cotter. We are looking to accept candidate who is fully committed to a challenging journey and who is aiming high for a successful future career in academia.

You will receive close guidance and mentorship from Dr. Siqi Liu and Prof. John Cotter who are experts in their field. You will be an integral part of the Department’s research activities, including attending our weekly departmental seminars that attract internationally renowned speakers. We also encourage and support you to present your PhD research at national and international conferences, and submit for journal publications. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to study at one of Europe's top Business Schools.

The opportunity is incredibly competitive and therefore we are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven, and well-qualified student with postgraduate degrees in finance, economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science and related disciplines.

Research will cover topics in:

(1) Asset Pricing and Risk positions

(2) Empirical Corporate Finance and Industrial Organization

(3) Fintech and applications

We provide a rich and vibrant research environment for our researchers. The PhD scholarship offers an attractive package including a tax-fee stipend of €22,000 per annum for four years and tuition fees for four years and support for research activities (travel funding, summer schools, access to a wide array of research databases etc.).
