The Deputy Lead for Year 3 of the MBChB programme is an important strategic role. The primary role of the Deputy Year Lead is to support the Year Lead to provide overall academic leadership for Year 3 and to take responsibility to ensure its content, structure, delivery and quality meet the requirements of the Programme and, where applicable, relevant trusts and general practices. They will be involved in the design, organization and delivery of Year 3 curriculum content, including individual modules and they will also assist in the teaching and arrangements for the hospital preparation course and the student selected experience elements associated with Year 3 of the programme.

They will meet with students who may need additional academic support and guidance; whose absence is greater than the permitted allowance; students who are required to re-sit summative assessments and those with unsatisfactory end of placement reviews.

They will attend the year management meetings and where possible other relevant meetings. They will work closely with the Year 3 Professional Services team.
