About the role
We are searching for a highly qualified and motivated Senior Lecturer to join our team. This role is focussed on the delivery of inspiring talks and lectures revolving around the theory and reflective writing in illustration, with an emphasis on practical aspects of professional development. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the intellectual and creative development of our students, preparing them for vibrant careers in the multifaceted fields of illustration.
Responsibilities include providing in-depth tuition on key critical theories relevant to Illustration and the visual arts, encompassing semiotics, cultural studies, and visual analysis. In addition, it is essential to possess a robust understanding of practical aspects of Illustration both digital and analogue to an industry standard. The candidate will be informed on contemporary developments and trends within the field and incorporate this into their teaching when possible.
An essential aspect of the role is providing an engaging and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to make the link between practice and theory. Additionally, the candidate will demonstrate active engagement in research and participation in relevant conferences and groups. This is expected in order to contribute to the academic and professional growth of both the lecturer and the Master’s students.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with a proven track record in research, scholarship or pedagogy, have strong IT skills, and be committed to a student-centred teaching and learning environment and to AUB’s making culture.
The successful candidate for the post will hold a teaching qualification and Higher Education Academy (HEA) Membership.
