Background
The School of Communication and Creativity brings together our renowned Department of Journalism with the Departments of Performing Arts, and Media, Culture and Creative Industries. The School will support and develop the next generation of practitioners to work across the cultural, creative, heritage and media sectors.
The Director of Operations is a member of the School’s Senior Leadership Team and is the most senior professional services manager working with the School with particular focus on ensuring the delivery of an excellent student experience.
Responsibilities
The Director of Operations is responsible for supporting the Dean in the leadership, management and day-to-day operation of the School, deputising as required, and makes significant contributions to strategy and decision-making across the full range of School activity. The Director of Operations is accountable for implementing the School’s strategic plan and for providing effective leadership of the operational areas of the School, with particular focus on ensuring the delivery of an excellent student experience.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or have equivalent professional experience. They will have line management experience and excellent planning and organisational skills, in addition to being proactive and driven with the ability to take the initiative to make things happen. This wide-ranging role includes strategic planning, financial and risk management, education support and policy guidance, and management of the School’s professional service teams. They will, be a creative problem solver and able to systematize solutions to create continuous improvements. They will be an effective and engaging communicator, with a passion and enthusiasm for excellence in customer service. They will be comfortable working with a wide and diverse range of stakeholders and customers.
