We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Research Associate to join the Centre for Sleep Health within the School of Psychological Sciences and Health. The Centre for Sleep Health conducts clinical research on sleep and disorders of sleep, with the aim of understanding their pathophysiology and treatment.

The successful candidate will work closely with Dr Leanne Fleming and a multidisciplinary team of experienced co-investigators on a mixed-methods feasibility study. The aim of the study is to co-produce and evaluate an insomnia intervention for people living with secondary breast cancer. Our objective is to understand whether Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a feasible, acceptable, and effective treatment for insomnia in people with secondary breast cancer. Principal duties include participant recruitment, conducting eligibility and follow-up assessments, leading a multi-stakeholder consultation process to co-produce and refine a tailored insomnia intervention for people with secondary breast cancer, and leading an evaluation of the feasibility and preliminary effectiveness of this intervention for this population. The appointee will contribute to the write-up of study results and to the production of research reports and publications. The successful candidate will also undertake administrative duties and assist with relevant teaching and knowledge exchange activities where required.

To be considered for the role, you should be educated to PhD level in Psychology or other relevant discipline. Applications will be considered from individuals in the final stage of their PhD, with a planned submission date within 3 months of the start date for this post. You will have knowledge and experience of both qualitative and quantitative research methods and have experience of undertaking independent or supervised research work in relevant fields. Experience of researching and/or delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia is essential.
