The Head of Professional Standards is a new senior regulatory role in BSB’s Regulatory Standards Department, which will lead the new Professional Standards team at the BSB. The role will provide strategic leadership of the regulatory policy framework underpinning the standards for education, training and ongoing competence of barristers, and will develop this new team to deliver an effective education and training policy function for the Standards department and the BSB.
Responsibilities will include:
-Strategic leadership and ownership of all aspects of the regulatory policy framework.
-Leadership and management of the professional standards team.
-Stakeholder Engagement
-Plan and manage appropriate internal and expert stakeholder input into policy programmes, commissioning research where necessary.
-Fostering constructive relationships with Authorised Education Training Organisations.
-Undertaking speaking and other external engagements whilst representing the BSB.
Key skills and experience required to undertake the role include:
-Considerable experience of working within a similar educational and, training within an education and training organisation or a regulator or similar organisation.
-Experience of managing multiple complex policy projects, leading on them, engaging stakeholders and managing risk.
-Well-developed strategic thinking and analytical skills including the ability to source and interpret complex data.
-Significant experience in leadership and people and performance management.
