We are looking to recruit an Assistant/Associate Professor to the School of Computer Science to further enhance our successful and growing department and specifically to build upon and increase its links to the biological sciences.
The School of Computer Science has a long history of productive interdisciplinary collaborations with academics in the biosciences at the University of Nottingham and beyond. We frequently collaborate with colleagues to develop and apply machine learning and computational modelling approaches to address hard, real-world biological problems in a variety of domains. We are seeking to appoint a candidate with a strong Computer Science background and a strong interest in interdisciplinary research experience across the biological sciences. In particular, the candidate should have or be building research expertise and track record in the development and application of machine learning and/or computational modelling approaches to the biological sciences, preferably in a least one of the following areas: Agriculture, Animal, Food and Nutrition, Biotechnology, and Environmental Science. The School already has a track record of research collaboration around image analysis and for this post we are looking for expertise outside this area.
See our recruitment microsite (https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/computerscience/work-with-us/intelligent-modelling-and-analysis-ima.aspx) for more information on our School's vision, research profile, and role within the university strategy.
Our vision as a School is to be highly rated in all areas: Research and Knowledge Exchange, Education and Student Experience. We are committed to creating opportunities for people from groups traditionally underrepresented in the field of Computer Science and therefore the ability to relate to and mentor students and colleagues within an increasingly ethnically and gender diverse community is essential.
At the University of Nottingham, we aim to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop, and reach your professional and personal career goals. You will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance.
This is a permanent position. Hours of work are full-time (36.25 hours); however, applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 18.25 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours. We are open to discuss flexible working arrangement. Job share arrangements may be considered.
